Cape Town: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) coach John Buchanan and team owner Shah Rukh Khan seem to have won this round.
With just a day left for the Indian Premier League (IPL) to begin, the team announced that New Zealander Brendan McCullum will captain the side in place of Sourav Ganguly in the initial matches hinting that Buchanan's multiple captain theory will be put in practice.
In a warm-up match at Bloemfontein, Ganguly's team had thrashed McCullum's side. The Knight Riders play their first IPL season 2 match against the Deccan Chargers on April 19.
The Bengal southpaw has been getting support from the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, who has no time for such concepts, even if team owner Shah Rukh Khan continues to back his coach.
Initial supporters of the theory also seem to be changing their mind now. Like Ishant Sharma. He had backed the theory, but now the speedster is rooting for a single captain.
At least partially, Jonty Rhodes agrees with the formula. "Cronje gave me the responsibility to find ways to improve our fielding. If you want to call him the fielding captain, that's fine."
Apart from Ganguly, the other players who will take up the captain's mantle for the KKR are West Indies opener Chris Gayle and Australian Brad Hodge.

Its like a film, in this vilon is Sh.Khan,
ReplyDeleteAt the beginning vilon dominates the film.
Finally S.Khan ( Stupid Khan,Buchanan's servant) will become big-ZERO, always Sourav become the hero after the tournament.........
