In an attempt to deliberately minimise match-time delays, the Indian Premier League has decided to levy heavy fines on teams, which resort to slow over rates. A fine of USD 20,000 will be levied on the captain for a first offence and USD 220,000 on the entire team for the second. The third offence will result in a team fine of USD 360,000 and a one-match ban for the captain.
